Manufacturing Engineer, Operations Engineer

The purpose of this position is to develop and sustain efficient operational methods across engineering, manufacturing and supply chain functions to improve profitability. The role is responsible for calculating and maintaining production capacity, coordinating with various teams to manage production progress and assisting the manager with technician attendance and performance reviews on the compound semiconductor laser chip production line.
Job Duties- Collaborate with the production and engineering teams to understand operations and develop solutions that meet Quality, Delivery and Cost goals.
- Determine metrics and create comprehensive dashboards to monitor progress and effectively communicate with leadership.
- Drive projects to increase productivity, reduce lead time, improve quality and achieve cost savings.
- Identify manufacturing capabilities and limitations; calculate production capacity and coordinate with the production control team.
- Improve labor productivity through the development and deployment of best-known methods and Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Assist with technician time‑card approvals in a timely manner and performance data collection and analysis.
- Support material management, including incoming material inspection, registry, inventory counting and restocking follow‑up.
- Coordinate with various teams on cleanroom incidents, including safety alarms, environmental abnormalities and equipment repairs (e.g., tablets, laptops, facility systems).
- Develop and document procedures and work instructions.
- Perform other work‑related tasks as required and assigned.
- Associate degree in a technical or business field.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to draw conclusions and develop strategies based on data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, planning and time‑management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across all levels of management and diverse functional teams.
- Ability to work in a cleanroom environment while wearing a smock.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast‑paced and rapidly changing environment.
This position will be on‑site based in Sugar Land, Texas.
