Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Logistics Technician located in our Lone Star Operations and is proud to operate in Deer Park, TX.
The site operates an emulsion reactor which produces more than twenty polymer products. These products are sold into the coatings, building and construction, paper, textiles, and adhesives markets. We are looking for top-caliber, technically capable Logistics Technicians who embrace change, adapt quickly, make decisions rapidly, possess self-confidence and are lifelong learners. These positions require a high degree of dedication to safety and environmental stewardship.
Site logistics technicians control the movement, storage, and shipping of raw materials and finished products, and operations of several subsidiary systems. Technicians may also be required to cross-train and certify on the Lone Star laboratory duties and or other areas deemed necessary by the plant.
In this role, you will be using your prior related experience, job-related training, or vocational training to complete routine activities. You will need to have basic technical or administrative skills to follow the established and approved work processes. You will need to understand how these assigned duties relate to other jobs within your workgroup and be able to exchange basic technical information with other team members.
Responsibilities- Product loading of railcars, tank trucks, isotainers, and flexitanks (bladder tanks)
- Product unloading hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
- Product storage operations; hose switching station operations; scale house operations; railcar cleaning.
- Enters Load In, Load Complete, and Shipment Complete in SAP for all shipments.
- Completes Tank transfers, switching and monitoring.
- Performs Operator maintenance duties including instrument lead clearing, small gasket change outs and line unplugging.
- Performs incidental maintenance (including changing out pumps and valves)
- Lift hoses, bolt flanges and operate valves and similar equipment including the proper clearing and isolation of equipment.
- Offload packaged raw materials in the warehouse; date and put away raw materials in the warehouse; rotate raw materials in the warehouse; label lines; paint and clean as time permits.
- Completes filter/strainer changes as required.
- Prepares equipment for maintenance (including isolation of energy sources, line and equipment opening).
- Follow the MPWP, and Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) and Operating Discipline Management System (ODMS) procedures and practices.
- Issues Safe Work Permits for all types of unit maintenance.
- Performing routine operation of basic control systems and devices to monitor levels, temperatures, pressures and flow rates and transfer of products.
- Create and improve operating disciplines for safe and efficient operations.
- Troubleshoot, analyze and resolve technical issues within the plant.
- Use electronic tools such as LIMS, CDS, SAP, Electronic Logbook, and MTL, as required.
- Effectively work in a team environment.
- Work with engineers, process operators, supervisors, schedulers, maintenance, and lab technicians.
- Obtain and process product samples to ensure quality control.
- Fill out and process necessary paperwork pertinent to the job.
- Perform the duties associated with the Lone Star laboratory.
- Operate pumps, valves, and other mechanical equipment.
- Be able to identify and mitigate any possible hazards that may arise.
- Train new distribution operators and educate team members.
