What This Position Is All About

The Assistant Store Director is a reliable, trustworthy, and team‑focused leader tasked with driving sales and profit in their area, supporting overall store performance, and building a culture of high engagement and people development. This role includes building the Saks OFF 5TH clienteling experience and exceeding customer expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Achieve sales, controllable profit, EBITDA and P&L performance, and manage payroll and shipping processes.
  • Oversee selling and service processes; lead and motivate the team to meet sales targets and drive omni‑channel growth.
  • Monitor scheduling and staffing to align with business needs and traffic flow.
  • Develop and retain direct reports, preparing them for increased responsibilities and creating internal talent for critical positions.
  • Participate in and support training for new company programs, procedures, and technologies.
  • Model and coach selling behaviors to meet or exceed key performance indicators.
  • Adhere to asset protection controls and compliance procedures; maintain knowledge of health and safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Operate equipment such as radios, POS registers, ticket scanners, and sensor removers.
Qualifications
  • Associate diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of management experience in a retail environment with a proven record of driving sales and achieving results.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Results‑driven approach with a proven sales track record.
  • Strong time‑management skills and comfort handling multiple projects and shifting priorities.
  • High standard of customer service and the ability to build exceptional customer relationships.
  • Thorough knowledge of the fashion industry and passion for sharing expertise.
  • Ability to act promptly in routine situations and implement effective plans.
  • Experience operating radios, POS registers, ticket scanners and other retail equipment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
