The City of Sugar Land is seeking a temporary
Sales & Events Coordinator in the Department of Economic Development .

This position is anticipated to begin in April and continue through the end of August. Please note that this timeline is an estimate and may be adjusted at any time during the duration of the assignment.

The Sales & Events Coordinator (Temp) is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive sales strategy to promote Sugar Land as a premier tourism destination. This role involves managing relationships with key stakeholders, including event producers, site selectors, travel agencies, tour operators, meeting planners, and other partners, to drive visitor numbers and enhance the city's tourism profile. The Sales & Events Coordinator will play a pivotal role in maximizing the City's Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) revenue while ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction.

  • Maintain active tourism sales prospecting, including lead research, outreach, and pipeline tracking to protect room night production.
  • Manage and maintain the Visit Sugar Land CRM, ensuring accurate account documentation, lead status updates, and follow-up activity.
  • Prepare and submit RFP responses, bid proposals, and customized sales presentations within required deadlines.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for sales inquiries and assigned client relationships; actively pursue RFP opportunities and new business leads.
