The City of Sugar Land is seeking a full-time Electrician in the Facilities Division of the Public Works Department.

- Performs skilled installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems including feeders, branch circuits, panels, switch gear, lighting, receptacles, motor controls, transformers, and emergency power systems.
- Inspects, tests, and repairs electrical distribution systems, generators, transfer switches, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units, and related control systems.
- Performs installation and maintenance of conduit, conductors, and raceway systems in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and City standards.
- Performs installation, termination, and troubleshooting of low-voltage wiring, control circuits, and communication cabling, including lighting controls, BAS signal wiring, and other low-voltage systems supporting facility operations.
- Maintains and services electrical components of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and coordinates with HVAC staff or BAS technicians to ensure proper function of controlled systems.
- Installs and maintains lighting control systems, exit/emergency lighting, and energy-saving devices.
- Ensures compliance with all City, local, state, and federal electrical codes, building standards, and safety regulations, including Lockout/Tag Out (LOTO) and confined space requirements.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Required to work as an essential employee before, during, and after emergencies or disasters.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Facilities Services Supervisor or their designee.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s degree or completion of a formal electrical apprenticeship program preferred.
- Four (4) years or more of progressively responsible experience as a licensed electrician performing installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial or industrial electrical systems. Experience in municipal, institutional, or multi-building environments preferred.

- A Valid Texas Journeyman or Maintenance Electrician license is required. Master's preferred.
