Position: Small Engine Mechanic

Role Description The Small Engine Mechanic is a full-time, on-site role based in Sugar Land, TX. This role is responsible for diagnosing issues, performing maintenance, and repairing small engines and related equipment, including lawn care equipment, generators, and compact machinery. Day-to-day tasks include inspecting equipment, conducting routine service, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical problems, and completing repairs in a timely and accurate manner.

The mechanic will work with hydraulic systems and heavy equipment components as needed, maintain clean and organized work areas, and complete service records and documentation. The role also involves communicating with team members and customers about repair status, ensuring equipment is safe, reliable and ready for rental or sale.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in Small Engine Repair and Maintenance & Repair, including diagnostics and tune-ups for outdoor power equipment.
  • Experience with Hydraulic Systems, including inspection, repair, and replacement of hydraulic components.
  • Proficiency in Troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and fuel system issues across various equipment types.
  • Familiarity with Heavy Equipment components and the ability to support basic service and minor repairs as needed.
  • Previous experience as a mechanic or technician in equipment rental, landscaping, construction, or related fields.
  • Ability to read and follow service manuals, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, safety-focused work habits, and reliable time management.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a shop environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in small engine or equipment repair is a plus.
  • Capability to lift and move equipment as required and stand for extended periods while performing repairs.
