GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled Diesel Technician to maintain and repair our fleet of refuse trucks and heavy equipment. In this on-site role, you'll perform diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and complex repairs on diesel engines, hydraulics, brakes, and electrical systems to ensure safe, reliable operations. You'll document work in our maintenance system, follow strict safety and environmental standards, and collaborate with drivers and supervisors to minimize downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic, brake, and electrical systems on refuse trucks and heavy equipment
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to maximize fleet uptime and reliability
  • Use diagnostic tools, service manuals, and schematics to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues
  • Document all inspections, repairs, parts usage, and labor in the computerized maintenance system
  • Inspect equipment for safety and regulatory compliance, supporting DOT and company standards
  • Coordinate with drivers and operations staff to prioritize repairs and address reported defects
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and housekeeping procedures in the shop and yard
  • Assist with road calls and emergency repairs to keep critical routes in service
  • Support parts ordering, inventory control, and warranty documentation as needed
  • Participate in ongoing technical and safety training to stay current with evolving fleet technology
