About the Role

The Shipping Clerk plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of outgoing shipments within a wholesale trade environment. This position is responsible for coordinating the preparation, packaging, and dispatch of goods to meet customer orders and delivery schedules. The Shipping Clerk must maintain meticulous records of shipments, verify inventory accuracy, and communicate effectively with warehouse personnel and transportation providers.

By managing the flow of goods from the warehouse to the customer, this role directly impacts customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will be detail‑oriented, physically capable of handling heavy items, and adaptable to fluctuating workloads including overtime when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience working in a warehouse or distribution center environment.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing English.
  • Capability to perform heavy lifting and carry weights as required by the job.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Must be proficient in all Microsoft office products such as Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems or shipping software and SAP.
  • Previous experience in wholesale trade or related industries.
  • Certification in forklift operation or other warehouse equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high‑volume data entry efficiently.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays.
  • Knowledgeable of basic inventory procedures.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and package products for shipment according to company standards and customer specifications. Schedule pick up appointments.
  • Verify shipment contents against orders and inventory records to ensure accuracy.
  • Pull work tickets off the printer, highlight important information and assign tickets to order pickers including instructions regarding the sequence of orders (or items/batches for other customers) to be pulled.
  • For designated shipments, contract customers with routing information (e.g., pallet count, weight – this function includes faxing routing request sheets to customers) as needed.
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff and transportation carriers to schedule and track shipments.
  • Perform heavy data entry tasks to maintain accurate shipping logs and documentation.
  • Attach bills of lading to purchase orders.
  • Lift and carry heavy packages safely while adhering to workplace safety guidelines.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors to resolve any shipping discrepancies or delays.
  • Adapt to flexible work hours, including overtime, to meet shipping deadlines during peak periods.
  • Other duties may be assigned based on business needs.
