Fleet Services Supervisor
The City of Sugar Land is seeking a full‑time Fleet Services Supervisor in the Fleet Department.
Position SummaryLead the maintenance and repair of the City’s diverse fleet, manage a team of technicians, coordinate essential maintenance operations, and ensure the reliability and safety of all equipment that supports critical City services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide exemplary customer service to all individuals by demonstrating attentiveness, understanding, responsiveness, courtesy, and respect.
- Assist the Fleet Administrator in planning and directing efficient operations, including staff development, financial management, and maintenance activities.
- Ensure Division staff receive appropriate technical and safety training for efficient and safe performance of tasks.
- Maintain effective relationships with customer departments to ensure service delivery meets expectations.
- Support implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines; evaluate operational control weaknesses and create new procedures as needed.
- Manage the Division’s automated systems for tracking, monitoring, and reporting inventory, fleet repairs, costs, and billing.
- Prepare and present weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to management regarding services and financial activities.
- Design, construct, inspect, and accept specialized vehicles and equipment.
- Attend on‑site duties as required, including during emergencies or disasters.
- Comply with all City and departmental policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director or designee.
- High School Diploma or GED required. An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of increasingly responsible automotive technician experience required.
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience required.
- Municipal experience is preferred.
- Texas Driver’s License required.
- Texas Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Air Brake and Tanker endorsements preferred, or able to obtain within 180 days of employment.
- Forklift Operator Certification, or able to obtain within 120 days of employment.
- Air Conditioning Freon Recycling Certification, or able to obtain within 180 days of employment.
- Texas DPS Vehicle Inspector License, or able to obtain within 90 days of employment.
- Additional ASE or EVT certifications preferred.
Starting salary of $35.78 – $41.15 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
