Responsibilities
- Lead complex reviews of company-reported data.
- Apply and interpret advanced accounting principles.
- Independently investigate and validate high-impact survey data.
- Collaborate across teams and related surveys.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for reporting companies.
- Minimum Education Requirement:
Degree in accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. - Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training providing professional accounting knowledge. The applicant’s background must also include one of the following:
- Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law;
- A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; or
- Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, with demonstrated knowledge and experience in accounting and related fields as described in the original text.
For the Band 3 (GS-11), one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to Band 2 (GS-09) is required. Experience includes analyzing and interpreting complex accounting, financial, and economic data; applying accounting principles and standards (e.g., U.S. GAAP, IFRS) to evaluate financial statements and reporting issues; investigating and resolving data discrepancies through reviewing survey data and supporting documentation;
and providing technical guidance to stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with survey and accounting requirements.

Education:
3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
Volunteer experience and paid/unpaid experience may be considered as qualifying experience. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer work.
