Join a high‑performing automotive dealership and lead our accounting operations. We’re seeking an experienced Automotive Accounting Controller to oversee financial reporting, internal controls, cash management, and the daily functions of a busy retail automotive environment. This role is critical to the dealership’s financial health, accuracy, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting functions:
GL, AP/AR, payroll, schedules, and reconciliations - Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and manufacturer requirements
- Manage month-end and year-end close
, ensuring accuracy and timeliness - Monitor cash flow
, banking relationships, and liquidity needs - Maintain and improve internal controls to safeguard dealership assets and ensure compliance with regulations
- Review schedules, investigate unusual entries, and ensure proper reconciliations (bank, reserve, factory payable, floorplan)
- Ensure all manufacturer accounts (warranty, rebates, co‑op, interest credits) are accurate and current
- Coordinate internal and external audits
, providing required documentation and addressing findings - Provide financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting to senior management to support strategic decisions
- Supervise, train, and develop accounting staff; promote a culture of accuracy and accountability
- Minimum 3+ years experience as an Automotive Controller or Assistant Controller in a dealership environment
- Strong understanding of dealership financial statements
, internal controls, and compliance standards - EXCEL proficiency is of the HIGHEST PRIORITY.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to lead a team and collaborate across departments
- Deep knowledge of inventory accounting, cost accounting, and revenue recognition in automotive retail
