Position Summary

The Senior Data Manager oversees data governance, quality, and strategy, ensuring data integrity and accessibility across the organization. Responsibilities include quality assurance, quality control, and data entry for data holdings used in standard and non-standard products or mission requirements, and creating, maintaining, and running reports to support these duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement standards of operation for collection, handling and archiving data.
  • Develop and implement data governance frameworks to ensure data quality, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and maintain data management plans.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and execute data management strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of master data management solutions to ensure consistency and accuracy of key data across the organization.
  • Monitor and report on data management performance metrics, continuously assessing and optimizing data processes.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management and stakeholders to align data initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Work closely with leads to support security and information assurance audit events.
  • Develop training materials and provide training to new analysts on data organization and tooling.
  • Prepare detailed reports for management and other departments by analyzing and interpreting data.
  • Work with cross-functional analysis teams to generate data products.
  • Oversee the integration of new technologies and initiatives into data standards and structures.
  • Perform data entry to connect data between different datasets and data stores.
  • Maintain knowledge of data store schemas and how systems integrate, working with the software team to suggest enhancements.
  • Support data ingest from multiple sources into existing data stores.
  • Collaborate with IT, software, and security teams to ensure user access rules and UA management systems are maintained per policy.
  • Work independently and as part of a team; lead and mentor less experienced employees.
  • Ensure work is compliant with processes, standards, and policies of the organization.
  • Lead projects within the department or job functions and guide individual contributors to ensure work meets standards.
Additional
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Support occasional travel as required.
  • Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
  • Day shift – with occasional after hours and weekends.
Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Science, Statistics, GIS, Computer Science or related technical field. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 5-9 years of real-world experience in data management (preferably in support of federal government programs).
  • Policy development and organizational goals for handling and using data.
  • Experience leading a data analysis team and ability to query a database.
  • Ability to coordinate with IT, Software, and Security professionals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Security+ Certification.
  • Experience with SQL and one or more data environment languages (Python, R, Scala, or Julia).
  • Problem-solving with minimal support and ability to import/convert multiple data formats.
