As a Data Product & Quality Specialist at AFS, you will act as the primary quality and testing authority for data products, bridging the gap between the engineering team and data consumers.
Responsibilities- Develop and execute test plans for data pipelines, APIs, and data products to verify accuracy, completeness, and adherence to requirements.
- Perform functional testing from a consumer's perspective, validating that data is discoverable in the ACDC catalog, accessible via the APIs, and matches the documented metadata.
- Serve as a member of the "Enabling Team," acting as a data mesh advocate who supports the adoption of the DME by helping consumers find, understand, and use data products.
- Create and maintain user‑facing documentation, tutorials, and "getting started" guides for data consumers.
- Gather feedback from early adopters and mission partners to create a feedback loop that drives continuous improvement for the data products and the platform itself.
- User‑level experience with API testing tools (e.g., Postman), data catalog interfaces (ACDC), and data validation techniques.
- Experience with Python scripting.
- Familiarity with SQL.
- Experience in data quality assurance, software testing, and writing technical documentation.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively translate consumer needs into technical feedback for the development team.
- A strong analytical mindset with the ability to understand data from both a technical and a mission‑user perspective.
- An active Secret clearance is required.
Compensation for this role in the following locations:
California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, the District of Columbia, and the city of Cleveland ranges from $105,100 to $115,400 USD.
