Scope of Work:

The Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) Mechanic installs, services, and repairs environmental-control systemsutilizingthe knowledge of refrigeration theory.

Responsibilities:

• Installs, services, and repairs environmental-control systems,utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipe fitting, and structural layouts.
• Performs a variety of trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
• Performs startup, turnover, and shutdown procedures of environmental control systems.
• Connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connects control panels to power source.
• Installs water and air filters incompetedinstallations
• Injectsrefrigerant into compressor to test systems.
• Observes pressure and vacuum gauges and adjusts controls to ensure proper operation
• Assembles and installs ductwork and chassis parts using appropriate toolsand welding equipment
• Cuts and bends tubing, cuts and threads pipes, joins tubing and pipes to machinery.
• Replaces or repairs defective breaker controls, generators, transformers, controllers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, air conditioning ducting, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring to repair installed units.
• Utilizeselectrician’shand tools and test equipment.
• Tests for leaks andobservespressure and vacuum gauges andadjustscontrols to ensure proper operations.
• Supports generator readiness and emergency power compliance, including documentation of inspections, maintenance actions, and operational status.
• Workfrom blueprints, drawings, layout, or other specificationstolocateandtroubleshootthe electrical system or equipment, working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.
• Conduct Real Property Inventory.
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Three (3) years related experience. Experience with commercial and industrial systems is preferred.
• EPA Section 608 certification is mandatory. Additional certifications (e.g., NATE) are highly valued.
• Must be able to read and understand blueprints, construction drawings,schematic sand diagrams as they pertain to the craft.
• Understanding ofsafety procedures and ability to work in compliance with OSHA and workplace safety regulations.
• Musthold andmaintaina Tier 3 (Secret Clearance) or Tier5background check(Top Secret / SCI Clearance),asrequiredfor the position.
• Must be able to maintain the ability to access the government worksite.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.

• Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, and reaching for long periods of time.
