The warehouse maintains important federal records, including personnel, tax, passport, and other government records, making accuracy, confidentiality, accountability, and careful records handling essential to successful performance.

The Material Handling Laborer will perform a combination of records-center, warehouse, materials-handling, retrieval, disposition, and related support activities. Specific duties may vary but will include reference, disposal, scanning, and associated labor, including removing boxes from shelving, placing boxes on shelves or pallets, shrink-wrapping, and performing general warehouse functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely remove records boxes from shelving and transport containers using streamliners, carts, pallets, and other Government-provided material-handling equipment as applicable.
  • Receive and shelve incoming records transfers, verifying records and container locations against Records Put Away Reports and other documentation.
  • Prepare records for disposition by pulling designated containers, transporting them to review/staging areas, palletizing containers, and securely shrink-wrapping pallets.
  • Maintain containers in the required sequence and verify identifying information, labels, transfer numbers, and shelf locations to support records accountability.
  • Retrieve requested folders, files, boxes, and other records in response to reference-service requests and return or reshelve records accurately after processing.
  • Identify and report missing containers, charged-out records, empty shelf locations, discrepancies, damaged containers, or other records-control issues to the appropriate Team Lead or designated federal personnel.
  • Complete required logs, pull lists, worksheets, Records Put Away Reports, and related documentation accurately and legibly. Agency requires personnel to verify locations and annotate records-handling documentation as part of the shelving process.
  • Perform palletizing, staging, shrink-wrapping, shelving, relocation, and general warehouse/material-handling duties while protecting records from loss or damage.
  • Meet established production and quality standards while maintaining a high degree of accuracy. The contract establishes production standards that vary substantially by task and requires work to be performed accurately, efficiently, and within agency standards.
  • Protect sensitive Federal records and information, including Personally Identifiable Information (PII), Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), and other protected information encountered during contract performance.
  • Follow all NARA safety, security, records-handling, confidentiality, workplace conduct, and LAC Federal policies and procedures.
