Position: Classroom Teacher / Social Studies
Job Description:

SUMMARY:

To create a flexible instructional program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students assigned to the classroom; to motivate pupils to develop attitudes and knowledge needed to ensure that effective learning occurs for each child, every day.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.

Instructional

Skills:

* Teaches District approved curriculum.

* Prepares for classroom instruction.

* Guides the learning process towards the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate objectives to students.

* Implements a variety of effective teaching techniques.

* Demonstrates competent knowledge of subject matter.

* Uses a variety of materials.

* Uses instructional time effectively.

* Motivates students to learn.

* Communicates effectively with students.

* Provides evaluative feedback to students.

Classroom Management:

* Organizes classroom to promote learning.

* Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.

* Manages student behavior constructively.

Interpersonal Relations:

* Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with students.

* Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with staff.

* Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with parents and patrons.

Professional Responsibilities:

* Participates in professional development activities.

* Demonstrates enthusiasm toward the teaching profession.

* Follows the policies and procedures of the school district.

* Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.

* Maintains regular attendance.

* Prepares necessary materials for substitutes.

* Maintains confidentiality and unquestionable integrity.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises classroom and students, volunteers, paraprofessionals, or student interns, as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR

EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's Degree in area of major study.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate
