Job Summary
St. Anthony Catholic Church is seeking a knowledgeable, faith-filled, and mission-driven 7th-8th Grade Social Studies Teacher to join our school community. This position is responsible for providing engaging instruction in history, geography, civics, and related disciplines while fostering a classroom environment rooted in curiosity, respect, and Catholic values.
Job Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging social studies lessons for 7th and 8th grade students aligned with school and Archdiocesan curriculum standards.
- Create a structured and positive classroom environment that promotes curiosity, discussion, and active participation.
- Integrate Catholic teachings and values into classroom discussions and historical perspectives when appropriate.
- Develop lessons incorporating primary sources, project-based learning, and inquiry-based instruction.
- Assess student learning using formative and summative assessments and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Maintain accurate records including lesson plans, grades, and student progress reports.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with parents, faculty, and administration regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Supervise students during transitions and other assigned duties as needed.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff on curriculum planning, interdisciplinary learning opportunities, and school initiatives.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
- Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating Catholic values and contributing to the faith life of the school community.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education, History, Social Studies, or a related field required;
Master's degree preferred. - Valid Missouri teaching certification or eligibility for certification.
- Experience teaching middle school students or working with adolescents preferred.
- Strong understanding of social studies curriculum, instructional strategies, and adolescent development.
- Excellent classroom-management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
- Must meet Archdiocesan requirements, including Safe Environment training and background screening.
Pre-Employment Screening
