Mechanic - Production-Aerofil Day Shift

Position Summary:

This role collaborates with production operators and supervisors to improve line performance reliability and lead SMED activities. The individual demonstrates a strong sense of urgency, supports preventative and predictive maintenance programs, and conducts effective TPM audits with the operators.

• Supports daily production activities, department initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
• Utilizes time to support the production line, work orders, TPM audits, root‑cause analysis and items on the fast‑response board.
• Troubleshoots and repairs equipment in close collaboration with operators.
• Works closely with the production team to follow setup sheets.
• Uses 5‑why and/or 6‑step troubleshooting processes to address inefficiencies.
• Tracks and corrects issues via Fast Response boards.
• Learns setup, changeover and operation of all production and process equipment for assigned lines.
• Operates welding, drilling, hand and power tools, and other shop equipment to perform improvements and repairs.
• Performs mechanical troubleshooting and repairs in response to equipment errors or improvements.
• Repipes, repairs pumps and machinery as needed.
• Explores new ways to maximize line speeds and increase performance reliability, including design changes, layout improvements, waste reduction, and other process enhancements.
• Drives SMED activities and machine setup sheet processes.
• Monitors change parts availability to maintain line reliability.
• Supports key point sheets and standard work for maintenance and production processes.
• Works with the production supervisor on work orders during changeovers or scheduled downtime.
• Monitors MC Express.
• Collaborates across all shifts to address issues for assigned lines.
• Available for maintenance weekends when needed.
• Maintains a good attendance record (fewer than 2 absences).
• Other duties as assigned.

• Must be able to stand, walk, sit and move about on foot for extended periods.
• Works in both indoor and outdoor environments.
• Climbs, ascends, or descends ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps and poles, using feet, legs, hands and arms.
• Balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, crawls, reaches, stands, pulls and lifts up to 50 lbs occasionally, 30 lbs frequently, and 10 lbs constantly.
• Grasps objects with fingers and palms.
• Communicates verbally with accuracy and clarity.
• Perceives sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
• Perform repetitive motion of wrists, hands, and fingers.
• Maintains close visual acuity for tasks such as data analysis, transcribing, reading computer screens, inspecting small parts, and operating measurement devices.
• Operates in noise levels that require shouting above ambient sound.
• Works in atmospheric conditions that may affect respiratory system, skin, or eye integrity (fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, poor ventilation).
• Functions in narrow aisles or passageways.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Vocational certificate or degree in a maintenance‑related field, or ability to pass the following tests:
  • Bennett Mechanical – minimum score 70%
  • Ramsay Combined Basic Skills – minimum score 70%
  • Ramsay Mechanical Maintenance Trainee – minimum score 60%

• Minimum 1 year experience at ATI preferred or prior maintenance‑related employment.
• Basic welding (MIG/TIG) and fabrication skills (aluminum, stainless steel, mild steel) required.
• Working knowledge of AC/DC circuits, AC/DC drives, PLC, motor controls, and 208 V, 230 V, 480 V power distribution.
• Understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders, valves, solenoids, and ability to troubleshoot using schematics.
