Highway Maintenance Technician I or II

TxDOT is looking for a Transportation Maintenance Technician I or II in the Paris District. This position is at the Hopkins County Maintenance Section located in Sulphur Springs, TX. Paris District has three core values:

Earn your full salary while training with lodging, transportation and per-diem provided if necessary. This job opening is for one Transportation Maintenance Technician I or II depending on business need and applicant's qualifications and experience. Qualification and experience will determine the applicant's position and pay. The Texas Department of Transportation reserves the sole right in determining the level of position based on the applicant's work experience, education, skill level and all other appropriate factors, and based on business needs.

Transportation Maintenance Technician II – A17 | $44,000 - $64,469 yearly

Minimum Salary: $40,918.00

Position Description Performs routine transportation operations or maintenance support work such as: roadway maintenance and repair; light and heavy equipment operation; preventive and minor maintenance on equipment; traffic control; and helping the public during emergency situations. Work requires contact with private entities. Essential Duties:
The essential duties for the Transportation Maintenance Technician I include:
Assists in identifying, repairing and installing signs, delineators, mailbox supports and posts; performs basic welding as needed; as required uses/moves equipment/tools, materials and products related to these activities. Assists in providing support to local law enforcement officials at accident sites; assists stranded motorists as required. Assists with traffic control; places and gathers cones, warning signs and barricades; flags traffic. Determines placement of traffic control devices and installs/moves devices.

Inspects barricades to ensure compliance with barricade standards. Maintains highways and rights-of-way; performs roadway repairs; erects and repairs guard rails, highway markers and signs; hauls materials and equipment to job sites. Maintains picnic and rest areas, rights-of-way, maintenance yards and comfort stations. Move/picks up litter and roadway debris. Mows rights-of-way and picnic and rest areas; performs plant and landscape maintenance including trimming trees and brush.
