Job SummaryThe Civil/Earthworks Superintendent provides leadership and field oversight for civil construction activities on the Louisiana LNG project. This role supervises superintendents and/or craft professionals, directs daily work operations, and coordinates subcontractor activities to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution.
The Superintendent is responsible for maintaining productivity, enforcing compliance with project policies and procedures, and ensuring all work is performed in accordance with approved specifications, schedules, and budget requirements.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Supervision- Lead and supervise discipline-specific activities, overseeing up to 50 craft personnel.
- Direct daily craft operations and ensure work is executed according to established plans.
- Develop and manage work schedules, reviewing completed tasks for quality and performance standards.
- Foster team development and maintain strong communication across field leadership and crews.
- Assess and determine workforce requirements to support project milestones.
- Coordinate and implement established operational plans within assigned work areas.
- Monitor productivity and proactively address potential delays or performance gaps.
- Oversee site utilization of tools and equipment to ensure efficiency and proper handling.
- Supervise preparation of Field Material Requisition s for tools and consumables.
- Ensure craft professionals have the necessary tools and materials to perform work effectively.
- Ensure construction activities utilize the most current approved design documents.
- Confirm all design changes are properly reviewed and approved prior to implementation.
- Monitor construction operations and subcontractor performance for compliance with project specifications, safety standards, schedules, and budgets.
- Promote and enforce adherence to safety procedures and best practices.
- Collaborate with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals to interpret engineering drawings, vendor documentation, and technical specifications.
- Support development and implementation of engineering solutions in coordination with subcontractors and field supervision.
- Provide technical guidance related to civil and earthworks construction processes.
- Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) with 8–10 years of relevant experience;
- OR
- 12–14 years of progressive, relevant construction experience in lieu of a degree.
- Proven experience managing large-scale bulk excavation operations, including material handling and movement logistics.
- Extensive experience with reinforced concrete construction, including major equipment foundation excavations and large concrete pours.
- Strong knowledge of applicable construction standards, specifications, codes, and safety regulations.
- Demonstrated expertise in civil and earthworks systems and installation practices on comparable large-scale projects.
- Prior experience supporting LNG construction projects preferred.
- Advanced technical knowledge of formwork systems, reinforcement placement, and concrete structure installation.
- Strong understanding of engineering and construction methods gained through formal training and/or extensive field experience.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team-motivation skills.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a dynamic field environment.
This position requires active field presence and the physical ability to perform site inspections in demanding construction environments. Responsibilities include extensive walking throughout the project site, often in high heat and humidity; climbing ladders and scaffolding; working at heights; navigating uneven terrain; and accessing confined spaces.
Candidates must be able to safely enter and exit the project site, perform occasional lifting as required, and properly use all standard Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) associated with assigned tasks (e.g., harnesses, life vests, lift buckets, etc.).
