Gas T&D Technical Specialist Senior Technician

Primary Purpose

Provides expert technical support for gas transmission systems that transport natural gas by pipeline, including incidental storage and/or gas distribution systems that transport natural gas to the final consumer by pipeline. Focuses on pipeline and compressor systems for natural gas transmission and/or distribution, including activities such as installing and/or inspecting rectifier stations and anodes used to minimize corrosive effects of static-electricity discharge between gas pipeline and ground.

Performs diagnostics, inspections, and troubleshooting on gas transmission and distribution systems with limited supervision while mentoring junior technicians and ensuring work quality.

• Performs detailed corrosion surveys such as close‑interval readings and identify probable sources of issues.
• Troubleshoots and repairs rectifiers, test stations, and grounding components.
• Leads preparations for in‑line inspection runs and supports tool launching and receiving.
• Inspects and maintains valves, regulators, and relief devices according to procedures.
• Executes compressor station preventive maintenance and identifies equipment defects.
• Leads safe leak repair site setup, including barricading and hazard controls.
• Trains junior technicians on testing methods and documentation standards.
• Verifies completeness and accuracy of field documentation submitted by crews.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Typically requires 3 years of related experience.

• Gas Engineering – Design and advise on smooth and safe supply or utilization of gas, including the development, construction, installation, operation, maintenance and repair of gas and gas‑related technology.

• Maintenance Management – Management of activities such as repair work, servicing, replacing, inspecting and testing.
• Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Management – The systematic approach to maintain health and safety at occupation and protect the environment.
• Standards Management – Sets standards correctly and efficiently, and adheres to them.
• Corrosion Control – Implementing processes and methods of combating corrosion by protecting metals against corrosion.
