Operations Manager
Job Description
Primary Purpose
Operates and maintains transmission pipelines typically within a geographic area. Coordinates inspection of pipelines, corrosion control, coordination of construction and/or maintenance, and project documentation. Ensures that all policies and procedures for safe operations are maintained and trains personnel on all procedures.
- Manages pipeline operations personnel to ensure optimal performance, regulatory compliance, and adherence to established operational standards.
- Designs, implements, and continuously improves training programs to ensure teams are proficient in current safety protocols, operational procedures, and industry regulations.
- Manages the design and modification of gas transmission pipelines and facilities to support in-line inspection (ILI) capabilities, ensuring pipeline integrity and regulatory compliance.
- Plans and manages preventive and corrective maintenance activities to enhance system reliability and minimize operational downtime.
- Develops, updates, and enforces comprehensive operational procedures and manuals to promote safe, efficient, and standardized pipeline operations.
- Manages third-party contractors engaged in pipeline construction, maintenance, and inspection, ensuring high-quality execution and strict adherence to safety and compliance standards.
- Manages relationships with key internal and external stakeholders—including regulatory bodies, contractors, and suppliers—to align on operational goals and ensure transparent communication.
- Manages implementation of environmental initiatives aimed at reducing the ecological footprint of pipeline operations, including waste reduction and pollution control programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education
Typically requires a 4 year degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Experience
Typically requires 8 years of related experience.

- Pipeline Operations Management – enabling the safe and efficient operation of energy pipelines.
- Inspection Management – quality control process measuring, examining, and reviewing materials against standard requirements.
- Corrosion Control – implementing processes to protect metals against corrosion.
- Maintenance Management – managing repair work, servicing, replacing, inspecting, testing.
- Project/Program Management – leading work of a team to achieve goals and meet success criteria.
- Health & Safety Management – designing, developing and implementing formal health & safety systems.
- Regulatory Compliance – ensuring adherence to laws, regulations, guidelines and specifications.
- Documentation & Records Management – creating, distributing, using, maintaining and disposing of recorded information.
- Emergency Response Management – coordinating resources and responsibilities for emergency mitigation and recovery.
- Standards Management – setting standards correctly and efficiently, and adhering to them.
Office:
Work onsite at a company facility due to the nature of the duties and responsibilities of the position.
