Are you a grants professional who knows what happens after the award is won?
A state agency in Greenwood, SC is creating a brand-new position to support its growing portfolio of federal and state grants. This is an opportunity for an experienced sponsored programs professional to take ownership of post-award administration, strengthen processes, and help build the foundation for a growing Sponsored Programs function.
This is not a grant‑writing position. The primary focus is post‑award grant management, compliance, financial monitoring, and supporting Principal Investigators (PIs) throughout the award lifecycle.
What You’ll Do- Own the administrative management of sponsored awards from award through closeout
- Serve as a primary resource for PIs, helping them navigate sponsor requirements, deadlines, reporting, and deliverables
- Monitor grant activity for compliance with federal, state, sponsor, and organizational requirements
- Track cost share, indirect costs/F&A, financial requirements, reporting deadlines, and award documentation
- Coordinate closely with Finance, leadership, PIs, and other internal stakeholders
- Proactively keep sponsored projects and PIs on track throughout the award period
- Support internal approvals and administrative components of pre‑award submissions as needed
- Develop and improve grant processes, workflows, tracking systems, procedures, and policies
- Help establish a scalable Sponsored Programs infrastructure as grant activity continues to grow
We’re seeking someone with professional experience in sponsored programs, sponsored projects, research administration, grants and contracts, post‑award administration, or federal grant compliance.
Strong candidates will bring experience with- Federal and/or state grants
- Post‑award compliance and administration
- Supporting PIs or other grant/project stakeholders
- Grant reporting and deadline management
Cost share and indirect costs/F&A - Award documentation and closeout
- Sponsor and regulatory compliance
Just as importantly, this role requires someone who can work well with people. You’ll need to be personable, collaborative, and comfortable guiding others through complex requirements while maintaining strong attention to compliance.
The right person will be proactive, highly organized, approachable, and comfortable building processes in an environment that is still evolving.
Work ArrangementThis opportunity may be structured as either a long-term contract or temp-to-hire position.
Temp-to-HireCandidates must be able and willing to work fully on‑site in Greenwood, SC in order to transition into a permanent position.
Long-Term ContractRemote work may be considered for a highly qualified candidate. Candidates who are unable or unwilling to ultimately work on‑site should understand that they will be considered for the contract opportunity only.
Compensation$65,000-$80,000 annually, depending on experience.
