Position Overview
The School Counselor provides comprehensive counseling services to students, including academic guidance, career planning, and personal/social development. This role involves collaborating with staff, families, and community resources to support student success.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individual and group counseling to students.
- Assist students in developing academic and career plans.
- Implement programs that promote personal and social development.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to address student needs.
- Coordinate with community agencies to provide additional support services.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records.
- Participate in student assessment and intervention processes.
- Provide crisis intervention as needed.
- Educate students and staff on topics related to mental health and well-being.
- Any other duties as assigned.
- Master's degree in School Counseling or related field.
- Valid South Carolina School Counselor Certification.
- Knowledge of counseling techniques and ethical standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively; sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
