Beyond BASIC Life Skills empowers adults with intellectual disabilities by providing programs that develop independent living skills beyond the basics. Located in South Carolina, the organization fills the gap in learning opportunities for these individuals after they age out of public education systems at 21 years old. Beyond BASIC believes in challenging individuals while offering tailored support to help them exceed expectations and achieve their unique definitions of fulfilled, independent lives.

Through diverse learning opportunities, the organization focuses on essential skills like cooking, exercising, communication, household tasks, and money management, fostering confidence and well-rounded development for its members.

This is a full-time, on-site teaching role located in Summerville, SC. Teachers at Beyond BASIC Life Skills are responsible for creating and implementing lesson plans that help adults with intellectual disabilities develop essential life skills. The role includes teaching, guiding, and training individuals in areas such as communication, household responsibilities, and personal development. Teachers will work collaboratively with other team members to deliver a supportive and engaging learning environment tailored to the needs of program participants.

• Experience in Education, Lesson Planning, and curriculum development
• Strong Teaching and Training skills to effectively guide and instruct individuals
• Excellent Communication skills to interact with team members, participants, and their families
• Patience, empathy, and adaptability when working with individuals with intellectual disabilities
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
• Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field preferred
• Prior experience working with adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities is a plus
