Position Overview

Manufacturing Engineer II – onsite at Collins Aerospace Fairfield, California (US‑CA‑FAIRFIELD‑3530). U.S. citizenship required. The role involves hands‑on floor support; the Engineer will directly support production operations and oversee a production area with multiple fabrication cells and processes. Relocation assistance available. The position is full‑time and onsite.

What You Will Do
  • Develop, implement, validate, and maintain manufacturing operations, standard work, work instructions, and technical documentation to ensure compliant and efficient production.
  • Lead manufacturing plans, tooling strategies, and production methodologies, including fixture/tool design and tool life management.
  • Design, develop, test, and implement assembly fixtures, tooling, and production support equipment.
  • Conduct variation, capability, and manufacturability analyses to ensure processes meet performance and quality requirements.
  • Conduct process validation activities to confirm product quality and readiness for production.
  • Apply knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and non‑destructive testing (NDT) methods—including ultrasonic, radiographic/X‑ray, and N‑ray inspections—to ensure products meet engineering specifications.
  • Drive producibility, process capability, and product/process improvements using lean manufacturing principles, smart factory initiatives, and advanced engineering techniques.
  • Investigate and resolve technical, operational, and quality issues through root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, and cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Interface with Production Operators, Design, Quality, and other Manufacturing Engineers to solve problems, improve manufacturability, and ensure compliance with drawings and specifications.
  • Participate in Project Management Team (PMT) meetings and product reviews to align technical solutions across disciplines and ensure production readiness.
  • Partner with Production, Quality, Design Engineering, EH&S, and Value Streams to ensure safety, quality, compliance, improve performance, and meet program objectives.
Qualifications
Must Have
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Aerospace, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering or similar); or Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • Minimum 2years of relevant experience in an engineering, manufacturing, and/or production environment.
  • Experience with Solid Works 3D modeling software.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain ATF access.
Preferred
  • Experience in fast‑paced, highly regulated aerospace or space manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with aerospace quality systems and compliance environments (AS9100, AS9110, AS9120).
  • Experience supporting machine operations, including fixture/tool design, tool life management, routing/work instructions, and CNC programming familiarity.
  • Experience with NDT methods (ultrasonic, radiographic/X‑ray, N‑ray) and interpretation of results.
  • Strong GD&T interpretation and tolerance analysis capability.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective technical communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
  • Self‑starter mindset with ability to work autonomously and lead complex manufacturing initiatives.
  • Knowledge of PFMEA, process validation, SPC, RCCA, control plans, and configuration control practices.

Compensation

Salary range: $75,800 – $144,200 per year.
