Summary
The Test Engineer will be a member of the CDT (Component & Development Test) organization of GE Vernova’s Gas Power business, supporting testing of new technology and existing fleet technology at permanent lab facilities as well as field sites. The role involves collection of quality test data from instrumentation selection to data storage, setup of Data Acquisition software/hardware, and managing support staff for data collection.
Roles and Responsibilities- Support new and existing technology testing with Design Engineering teams in planning, design, development, instrumentation, and execution of engineering development and Root Cause Analysis testing of gas turbine/steam turbine/generator components, wind turbine components, and accessory systems.
- Perform data reduction, analysis and processing of raw engineering test data, including dynamic data both in real time and/or post‑test.
- Select and apply instrumentation, modify hardware, and set‑up and execute tests to validate engineering models.
- Author technical documentation to manage implementation of test schemes with craft technicians.
- Lead control system development and diagnostic projects, including configuration and tuning of PID controllers and advanced control loops.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose control system malfunctions, integrating data from existing systems and performing trend analysis.
- Utilize communication protocols such as Modbus TCP/IP, PROFIBUS, HART, OPC DA/UA to set up network connectivity and security for remote data monitoring.
- Interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams.
- Plan project schedules, cost estimates, and cost tracking.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls Engineering or a closely related discipline from an accredited university or college.
0–1 year engineering experience or previous internship/academic experience with lab testing and data acquisition.
Eligibility RequirementsThe position is 100% onsite at the GE Vernova Greenville, SC plant, or field sites (relocation assistance available).
Unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States of America is required; no sponsorship will be provided now or in the future.
Ability and willingness to travel 10–15% domestically and internationally.
This role requires access to U.S. export‑controlled information; final offers contingent on obtaining authorization for access to U.S. export‑controlled information from the U.S. Government.
Desired Characteristics- Experience in measurement technology development including mechanical design analysis of hardware.
- Experience utilizing engineering software for design development (3D modeling such as AutoCAD, NX/UG, or similar).
- Experience with programming languages including Python, C/C++ and their use in data acquisition and analysis.
- Strong interest or knowledge around measurement technology & metrology.
- Good communication and negotiation capabilities, able to interface with global organizations and external customers.
Pay range: $72,000–$108,000. The company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
