SRNL is seeking an advanced level Laboratory Technician to support the Material Testing Laboratory in its operation of the Material Test Facility for the Savannah River Tritium Enterprise. Candidates are expected to provide support for facility modification projects, train and assist MTF personnel in laboratory operations, and assist laboratory management in coordinating laboratory operations to meet the surveillance mission schedule.
Responsibilities- Communicate with stakeholders via daily Tier Board meetings, Plan-of-the-Day meetings, facility outage meetings, Task Previews, Job Site Reviews, Pre-job and Post-job briefings, and maintenance schedule meetings.
- Work with procurement specialists to purchase laboratory materials and chemicals, plan and maintain inventories, and reduce waste where possible.
- Coordinate housekeeping and waste evolutions, ensuring activities are completed in accordance with standard operating procedures and Conduct of Operations.
- Serve as an interface for any Outside Work groups for hardware and software changes impacting Material Testing Laboratory.
- Assist with creating and maintaining staff maintenance schedules including tickler rotations, pinch welds, housekeeping, and group attendance calendar.
- Assist the group manager in improving operational management systems, processes, and best practices.
- Assist Lead Engineer, Life Storage Coordinator, and group manager in meeting operational targets as defined in the Reservoir Surveillance Operations schedule.
- Assist with other activities as directed by group management.
- B.S. in Science/Engineering related field and 5 years’ experience; or Associate Degree in Science/Engineering related field and 10 years’ experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 15 years’ experience.
- Must be able to start and accomplish tasks independently.
- Must be able to secure and maintain a Q-clearance, for which U.S. Citizenship is legally required.
Experience in radiological laboratory settings.
