Job Title: Avionics Integration Manager
Job Description
The Avionics Integration Manager develops technically sound avionics solutions, leads integration efforts, and provides the technical content required for accurate and competitive avionics quotations. This role collaborates closely with Business Operations, Planning, Production, Quality, and Business Development to ensure projects are properly engineered, competitively quoted, efficiently executed, and completed in full compliance with FAA regulations.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical expert for avionics integration and aircraft modernization, providing leadership and guidance on complex modification projects.
- Develop avionics system architectures and integration concepts tailored to specific aircraft configurations and mission requirements.
- Evaluate aircraft configurations and recommend Garmin and other avionics solutions that meet customer needs and certification requirements.
- Coordinate with OEMs, STC holders, DERs, and engineering organizations to ensure designs and installations meet regulatory and technical standards.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of avionics technologies, certification requirements, and industry best practices.
- Lead technical quote development by providing engineering and installation expertise to create accurate, executable, and competitive customer proposals.
- Define system architecture, equipment configurations, installation scope, labor estimates, material requirements, certification considerations, and project schedules for proposed work.
- Develop detailed Bills of Material (BOMs) and installation labor estimates to support pricing and planning activities.
- Review aircraft compatibility and certification requirements to ensure proposed solutions can be successfully implemented and approved.
- Coordinate with Business Operations and Sales to develop complete customer proposals that clearly communicate technical solutions and options.
- Participate in customer meetings to explain technical solutions, upgrade options, and integration strategies in a clear and professional manner.
- Develop installation concepts and technical work packages that guide maintenance and avionics technicians through the modification process.
- Review wiring diagrams, electrical loads, and interface requirements to ensure safe and reliable system integration.
- Coordinate STCs, FAA approvals, and engineering installation standards and work instructions to support compliant modifications.
- Support troubleshooting of complex avionics integration issues, providing hands-on technical guidance and root cause analysis.
- Provide technical oversight for avionics modification projects from planning through return-to-service, ensuring quality and compliance.
- Support Production and Maintenance personnel during installations by answering technical questions and resolving integration challenges.
- Configure, test, and validate Garmin avionics systems to confirm proper operation and integration with existing aircraft systems.
- Coordinate operational testing and return-to-service documentation to meet regulatory and customer requirements.
- Assist in developing the organization’s avionics capabilities, including processes, standards, and service offerings.
- Develop standardized avionics upgrade packages that streamline quoting, installation, and certification activities.
- Coordinate tooling, software, and OEM training necessary to support current and future avionics integration work.
- Maintain avionics installation procedures and standards to ensure consistent quality and regulatory compliance.
- Support customer meetings and technical presentations as a subject matter expert on avionics solutions and aircraft modernization.
- Identify avionics upgrade opportunities across business aviation, government, and special mission customers.
- Develop and maintain relationships with Garmin, OEMs, distributors, and engineering partners to support program growth and technical capability.
- Collaborate effectively with the Director of Maintenance, Production Coordinator, Planning Manager, Business Operations, Business Development & Sales, Chief Inspector, Maintenance & Avionics Technicians, and external engineering partners.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts focused on technical accuracy of quotes, installation quality, schedule adherence, project profitability, customer satisfaction, avionics revenue growth, and proposal win rate.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- FAA A&P License Required, FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) is preferred.
- FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) is pref
