Clinical Laboratory Assistant - MUSCP

Overview

Provide quality venipuncture or capillary services for patients of all ages, including pediatric, with lab orders, while practicing universal precautions in a timely and cost‑effective approach. Ensure all lab tests are recorded on the lab router and within the LIS in compliance with Federal and State regulations, and maintain excellent customer service. This role is performed at the Nexton Multispecialty Clinic located in Summerville near Nexton Square.

The clinic offers over 10 specialties and operates Monday‑Friday 8:00 am‑5:00 pm with free parking.

• Perform venipuncture or capillary services for patients of all ages with physician‑ordered lab tests, practicing universal precautions and a timely, cost‑effective approach.
• Accurately enter patient demographics and assay orders into all computer applications, and maintain lab documents including faxed results.
• Process and handle specimens in accordance with MUSCP/MUSCP‑PC or other reference laboratory guidelines, documenting any remedial actions and communicating information as needed.
• Maintain medical supplies in a cost‑effective manner to support job tasks.
• Decontaminate assigned areas and document the information.
• Attend in‑services, meetings, and participate in committees and continuing education as requested.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent. 0–6 months of work experience acceptable.
• Certificate of Phlebotomy preferred. State licensure or professional certification required as per position.

Continuous standing, walking, and sitting; ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, use both hands and legs, perform repetitive motions, and lift or carry objects up to 50 lbs. Must maintain 20/40 vision corrected and work in a latex‑safe, indoor environment.
