Sr. Virtualization Engineer

Forge Forward is hiring a Senior Virtualization Engineer

to support a major U.S. Navy program. In this role, you will design, build, and manage a VMware Software‑Defined Datacenter (SDDC) environment with a focus on vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN
, and automation. This position is ideal for experienced engineers who want to work on mission‑critical DoD infrastructure.

• Deploy, configure, and maintain VMware vSphere
  , ESXi
  , vCenter
  , and vSAN
• Support and optimize enterprise VMware SDDC environments
• Implement automation using Ansible
  , Terraform
  , or PowerCLI
• Diagnose and resolve complex virtualization, compute, and storage issues
• Support container platforms and datacenter network infrastructure
• Maintain and improve enterprise backup/disaster recovery tools (Rubrik preferred)
• Work closely with engineering, cybersecurity, and government stakeholders

• 5+ years in virtualization engineering, systems engineering, or datacenter operations
• Hands‑on experience with vSphere
  , ESXi
  , vCenter
  , vSAN
  , and SDDC technologies
• Experience with automation tools (
  Ansible
  , Terraform
  , or similar)
• Strong troubleshooting skills across compute and storage stacks
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
• Active SECRET clearance and U.S. citizenship
• Ability to obtain DoD 8570 IAT‑II certification (Security+, GSEC, SSCP) within 6 months

• VMware certifications (VCP‑DCV, VCP‑NV)
• Experience with Rubrik
  , NSX‑T,
  Tanzu
  , Kubernetes, Docker
• Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket)
• Experience in DoD or Navy environments, RMF, or Dev Sec Ops
• Strong communication and documentation skills
