Job Summary
Provides nursing care to patients using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation). Directs and leads other assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age and developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards and practice. Offers patient/family centered care focusing on physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs. Coordinates care, health teaching, and promotion, and evaluates goals and interventions as per policies of MUSC.
Maintains a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment through patient privacy and respectful, professional behavior. Participates in shared governance and professional development to promote leadership, clinical excellence, teamwork, and critical thinking. Identifies clinical priorities and initiates actions to improve patient outcomes.
- Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
- Registered Nurse with an Associate or Diploma degree, enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years, and obtaining a BSN within four years of hire or reclassification.
- Minimum of one year of registered nurse work experience.
- Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
Ability to perform job functions continuously while standing, sitting, walking, and climbing stairs. Work indoors and occasionally outdoors in temperature extremes. Work from elevated areas, confined spaces, and from kneeling positions. Bend, twist, and reach overhead as needed. Perform repetitive hand and wrist motions. Lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted and move 50 lbs objects from the floor to a height of 36 inches.
Maintain vision, hearing, and tactile senses required for patient safety.
