Certified Medical Assistant​/Licensed Practical Nurse

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) seeks a Certified Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse to support patient care in an academic health setting. This role performs vital signs, triage, documentation, and clinical procedures while assisting providers during exams and treatments. Duties include administering medications within scope, phlebotomy, specimen handling, and patient education. The position supports clinic flow, scheduling, and care coordination.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints in the EHR.
• Prepare patients and exam rooms for visits, procedures, and treatments.
• Administer medications and injections within CMA/LPN scope and MUSC protocols.
• Assist providers with exams, minor procedures, and care coordination.
• Perform basic lab tasks such as phlebotomy and specimen collection/handling.
• Provide patient education, discharge instructions, and follow-up coordination.
• Maintain infection control, aseptic technique, and equipment cleanliness.
• Support scheduling, referrals, and documentation for efficient clinic flow.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in an academic health environment.
• Uphold MUSC standards for safety, quality, and patient-centered care.
