Communications Officer- Long Term Substitute

Primary Functions:

To provide high-quality professional assistance to the Superintendent of Schools, and to oversee communications to and between district administration, staff, Board of Education, parents, community members and the local press.

• Bachelor's Degree required in one of the following fields, or related studies:
  Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing.
• Perform all duties in a manner that promotes the organization's mission and core values.
• Adhere to confidentiality rules and all other policies, procedures, and practices.
• Outstanding verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills (writing, editing, formatting, proofreading and presentation).
• Proven experience in reading situations and forecasting outcomes/potential concerns.
• Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion, tact and confidentiality.
• Minimal supervision needed. Ability to work independently with independent judgment and initiative.
• Ability to multi-task in an environment with shifting priorities and time-sensitive deadlines.
• Ability to message the organization's priorities and continuously keep stakeholders engaged.
• Convey complex issues, events, and concepts in a succinct and easy-to-understand language.
• Experience with photography and video production, editing and promotion.
• Assist with monitoring media alerts and key publications for related news.
• Vet and respond to inquiries from the press and other third-party media, as appropriate.
• Demonstrated experience using all social media tools, including a strong grasp of industry- and platform-specific best practices is required.
• Create and manage content for use on digital channels, including social media posts, images or other digital assets. Ability to adapt writing to various media.
