Overview
Kent Place School is seeking a mathematics teacher leader to inspire upper school girls to develop their interests in math and pursue futures in STEM fields. We seek individuals who enjoy collaborating with colleagues, demonstrate personal initiative to innovate in their teaching practice, demonstrate commitment to inspiring students in classroom practice and curricular development, and are interested in growing as a teacher and becoming a teacher-leader.
Candidates should have a keen interest in using math to investigate and answer interdisciplinary questions in both the natural and social sciences. The candidate would join a math department committed to inquiry-based learning and to using assessment to develop girls' love of learning, confidence, and mathematical proficiency.
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments, particularly in STEM fields.
- Contribute to curriculum development and teaching in an integrated math sequence at the high school level.
- Engage in inquiry-based learning and use assessment to support students' love of learning, confidence, and mathematical proficiency.
- Potentially lead department activities and contribute to instructional practice improvements as a teacher-leader.
- Advise upper school students and participate in school community events.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or a related field is required.
- Master’s degree in Mathematics, a related field, or Education/Teaching is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of prior teaching experience is preferred.
- Experience with teaching higher-level mathematics (AP Calculus AB, AP Statistics, Multi-variable Calculus) will be prioritized.
- Experience with curriculum writing and teaching in an integrated math sequence is a plus.
- Disposition toward research-based strategies in STEM education to empower girls, with potential for department leadership (Chair) based on curricular development experience and coaching.
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues across academic departments, particularly in the STEM fields.
- Experience leading activities that broaden student interest in design thinking and creative problem-solving.
- Willingness to support students in their mathematical learning in and outside of class time.
- Enthusiasm for advising US students and participating in community events.
Salary: $60,000 – $85,000
