Principal Accountabilities
- Perform MRI procedures:
Generate high quality reproducible MRI scans based on physician orders and established protocols, position patients accurately and safely to capture the correct anatomical areas for diagnosis. - Prepare and educate patients:
Obtain accurate medical histories and screen patients for any MRI contraindications, explain the MRI procedure and address any questions or concerns the patient may have, and investigate and research implanted devices as needed. - Administer contrast agents:
Responsible for initiating intravenous access on patients, prepare and administer contrast agents, when necessary, remove intravenous catheters and apply patient dressings. - Operate and maintain various equipment:
Including monitoring, biopsy, power injector and all other MRI related equipment. Recognize problems / malfunctions of equipment and possess the ability to troubleshoot and perform routine equipment checks. - Ensure image quality:
Evaluate images for acceptable image quality and completeness. - Adhere to established safety standards, policies and regulations:
Follow all MRI safety protocols and practices to protect patients and staff from any MRI related adverse events. - Communication:
Communicate effectively and respectfully with all hospital staff inside or outside of the MRI and Radiology departments with a strong attention to detail, team-oriented, self-motivated and results driven, a desire for personal growth and readiness to identify and overcome challenges, and receptive to feedback. - Adheres to all hospital policies, PRIDE values, HIPAA regulations and infection prevention standards.
- All other duties, additional responsibilities, and functions as needed and assigned.
- NJDEP approved radiography program or ARMRIT
- Licensed by the state of New Jersey in Radiography preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years working as an MRI technologist in a hospital setting preferred.
- ARRT or ARMRIT Certification required. ARRT preferred.
- BLS required.
