Position: MGR - RECREATION THERAPY
Manager Of Therapeutic Activities

Position Summary:
The Manager of Therapeutic Activities is responsible for developing, directing, administering and coordinating the Therapeutic Activity Program. The Manager of Therapeutic Activities must direct all facets of the Therapeutic Activities Department including guaranteeing quality patient care to each patient, in accordance with quality standards. The Manager of Therapeutic Activities is also responsible for planning and implementing activity services for units and programs, defining and implementing treatment goals as a member of the interdisciplinary team and providing continuous patient care, observation and interaction and role modeling to patients.
Qualifications
- Education:
Bachelor's Degree (Required) - Certification, licensure, and/or Board Certification by state and/or national governing body in Art Therapy (Required)
- Licenses Included: CTRS (recreation therapy), ATR (art therapy), MT-BC (music therapy), OT (occupational therapy) and LAC/LPC (counseling)

Essential Job Duties
Knowledge in one or more program disciplines (i.e. art, occupational, recreation, and/or music, expressive, dance therapy).Knowledge of psychiatric care techniques.Knowledge of adolescent and adult program rules and protocols.Excellent leadership skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Selects and assigns staff, ensuring equal employment opportunity in hiring and promotion.Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate employees.Directs and coordinates the activities therapy programs throughout the facility.Directs activity therapists and aides in occupational, music, art, and recreational therapy programs. Conducts quality assurance reviewsOversees scheduling and coverage for the department.Observe and document changes in patients' appearance, behavior, and ability to work towards treatment plan goals.Communicate changes in patient's condition to Charge Nurse or Program Director.Provides assessment in psychosocial/leisure and recreational skills development/deficiency.Ensure timely documentation of interventions and ensure interventions are based on the patient's plan of care.Utilize advanced knowledge of counseling and therapeutic concepts and methods for determining therapeutic services for psychiatric and chemically dependent patientsAct as a patient advocate and assures patient rights are upheld.Maintain current documentation in weekly progress notes, including the patient's name, date, name of therapeutic group/intervention, and summary of the session.Demonstrate excellent guest relations in communication and cooperation, assisting patients, licensed practitioners, co-workers, and visitors in a prompt and courteous manner.Maintain confidentiality of facility employees and patient information
