Human Resources Business Partner, Summit, New Jersey

$120,000 + 12.5% bonus (total $135,000) + Fleet Car

Field based, 3 days visiting stores, 1 Office based, 1 day WFH

HR Recruit is partnering with a rapidly growing service organization. The Human Resources Business Partner serves as a strategic partner to Operations and Corporate leadership, supporting people strategy while fostering a positive, high-performing culture across a multi-site workforce. This role partners with leaders to drive employee relations, engagement, performance management, talent development, onboarding, and leadership coaching.

As a trusted advisor to managers and advocate for employees, the Human Resources Business Partner provides guidance on employee relations, ensures consistent application of HR policies and practices, and helps build engaged, accountable, and high-performing teams. Through strong partnerships with operational leaders, this role translates business objectives into people-focused solutions that strengthen the employee experience, improve retention, and support continued growth.

This role is primarily field-based, with regular travel to store locations across the Northeast (2-3 days per week), in-office presence (1-2 days per week), and offers the flexibility to work remotely up (1 day per week).

Role Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary HR partner for employee relations matters by advising managers on workplace concerns, performance issues, disciplinary action, conflict resolution, policy interpretation, and employment law. Conduct workplace investigations, facilitate resolutions, coach leaders through difficult employee conversations, and ensure fair, consistent, and compliant outcomes.
  • Partner with leaders to build leadership capability by providing coaching on performance management, employee development, corrective action, documentation, accountability, and HR best practices.
  • Drive initiatives that foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture through employee engagement programs, recognition initiatives, employee surveys, events, and ongoing partnership between corporate and operations teams.
  • Develop and oversee training and development programs across the organization, including new hire training, leadership development, skills training, training content, external training opportunities, training compliance, and organizational development initiatives that support business objectives.
  • Own and administer the company's talent management processes, including annual performance reviews, performance evaluations, talent assessments, and talent development discussions to support employee growth and organizational effectiveness.
  • Lead succession planning efforts by identifying high-potential talent, facilitating development planning, supporting leaders in building bench strength, and identifying organizational capability gaps to ensure long-term business continuity.
  • Identify trends and root causes in employee relations, engagement, turnover, and performance metrics, recommending proactive people solutions that improve retention, engagement, and organizational effectiveness.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of employee relations practices, investigations, and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to interpret and apply employment laws and company policies in real-world situations.
  • Strong judgment and ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build trust at all levels.
  • Ability to influence and coach managers in a constructive, solutions-oriented manner.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and balanced approach.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable operating in field environments and engaging directly with frontline employees.
Required Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
  • 5–8+ of progressive HR experience with responsibility in Employee Relations and Talent Management.
  • Experience in multi-unit, customer-facing, or high-volume hourly workforce environments
  • Experience conducting workplace investigations and leading the performance management process.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
Preferred Skills, Experience, Education
  • Experience with in retail, hospitality, restaurant, automotive services, or other multi-site operational environment.
  • Experience designing and implementing leadership development and training programs.
  • Experience scaling HR operations in high-growth or startup environments.
  • Experience implementing or utilizing HR systems including learning management systems, performance management platforms, or employee survey tools.

In return you will receive a salary of between $120,000 + 12.5% bonus (total $135,000) + Fleet Car

The salary banding advertised is a guideline, the compensation offered will be commensurate upon experience.
