Overview

The Account Director is responsible for leading and operationalizing teams that profitably deliver work within a portfolio of accounts. They understand agency revenue and profitability models, ensuring projects are completed within budget and managing the revenue forecast for the brand. They keep management informed of account status, address issues proactively, and maintain strategic and tactical integrity across all assignments. The role focuses on developing new business opportunities within existing accounts and fostering long‑term client relationships.

Client

Partnership & Business Development

Responsible for client relationships at all levels, engaging senior‑level stakeholders and maintaining ongoing relationship development. Monitors competitive landscape to provide strategic insights, mines organic growth opportunities, and establishes strategic partnerships that align agency perspective with client objectives. Conducts regular status meetings, informs clients of project timelines and requirements, and liaises with cross‑functional teams to drive execution. Oversees MLR submissions to ensure compliance with client guidelines.

Internal

Account Management

The Account Director leads the internal team, ensuring the right resources are allocated to each project. They develop marketing tactical plans, budgets, and timelines; supervise production of tactics; and communicate updates to the team. They set priorities, monitor workloads to minimize downtime, and manage direct reports’ scheduling, performance reviews, and feedback. The role includes monitoring direct reports’ timesheets and ensuring proper coverage for assigned accounts.

Financial

Management

Develops annual tactical plans and oversees new SOW development. Forecasts budgets, maintains accurate phasing, and administers client budgets through estimating, tracking, and reconciliation. Continues to monitor client budgets, raising awareness of changes that affect scope, and reports financial status to leadership. Maintains up‑to‑date project financials and participates in financial meetings to support client communication.

Agency Operations

Assumes broader leadership responsibilities within the agency, providing suggestions to improve policy and operations. Drives day‑to‑day account operations, collaborates with department heads to adjust roles for efficiency, and participates in hiring and onboarding of new team members.

Salary: $135,000 - $179,000.
