The Application Specialist analyzes customer specifications, prepares technical and commercial proposals, coordinates equipment testing, and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to deliver effective processing solutions and support customer success within the food industry. This role applies to Hosokawa Micron Powder Systems technologies used for size reduction, classification, mixing, drying, compaction and containment processes commonly utilized in food ingredient, nutraceutical and powder processing applications.
- Respond to and support sales inquiries and lead qualification activities.
- Assist in reviewing customer specifications and process requirements to support equipment recommendations.
- Assist in evaluating material characteristics and process parameters to support application discussions.
- Prepare and support development of technical quotations and documentation in coordination with internal teams.
- Participate in customer equipment trials and assist with technical summaries.
- Maintain customer records, opportunities, and application data within the CRM system.
- Support development of relationships with food processing companies, plant engineers, and production teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
- 1+ year of experience supporting industrial or process equipment within food processing or food production environments.
- 1+ year of experience supporting protein powder, nutraceutical, or related food processing applications.
- 1+ year of experience working in environments operating under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and/or FDA-regulated production standards with an understanding of food processing operations.
- 3+ years of professional experience supporting equipment applications within food processing environments.
- 3+ years of experience preparing technical proposals, quotations, or equipment solutions for industrial processing systems.
- 3+ years of experience supporting protein powder, nutraceutical, or related food processing applications.
- 3+ years of experience utilizing a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
- Ability to move within office and manufacturing environments.
- Occasional standing, walking, and light lifting up to 10 pounds.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
