Position: Nurse Manager TU2 Rehab/Substance Abuse

Responsibilities

This is a full‑time position for a Nurse Manager on our TU2 – Rehab Unit. The role is five days a week, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Under the supervision of the CNO, the Nurse Manager will be responsible for the management of patient care to ensure optimum quality patient care is provided by nursing staff on a 24‑hour basis.

  • Monitors the delivery of patient care.
  • Collaborates with Medical Staff and Department Managers to ensure the needs of the total service are met.
  • Fosters and promotes open communications and assists in the assessment of potential new patient referrals.
  • When the Patient Advocate is unavailable, facilitates resolution of complaints or grievances/requests by patients and visitors in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible and accountable for making decisions related to the structure, coordination and resources required to deliver cost‑effective professional nursing care 24 hours per day.
  • Engages in performance improvement activities that support the overall efficiency of the nursing department.
  • Participates in the hiring, promotion, discipline and evaluation of unit staff, as well as the orientation of new staff to the unit and ongoing educational development of unit staff.
  • Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient’s age‑specific needs and provide age‑specific treatment and care.

Qualifications
  • Licensed in the state of New Jersey as a Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum of three years of hospital‑based nursing.
  • Minimum of two years experience in psychiatric nursing required.
  • BSN or BS in a related health field. Will consider applicants actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree with employment experience.
  • Past experience should include supervising staff.
  • ANCC certification in the field of mental health and psychiatric nursing preferred.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, direct and monitor others’ activities with demonstrated leadership abilities that contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Demonstrates progressive roles in nursing leadership.
