Travel Stepdown RN – Summit, New Jersey

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Stepdown Registered Nurse for an 8‑week travel assignment in Summit, New Jersey.

A Stepdown RN provides care to patients transitioning from intensive care to medical‑surgical or general inpatient units. The role involves frequent monitoring and specialized nursing interventions, assessment and management of complex patient needs, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, patient‑centered care.

• Monitors and interprets cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and telemetry data to detect abnormalities and respond appropriately.
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, with a focus on cardiac care.
• Prepares equipment and assists physicians during cardiac‑related procedures and examinations.
• Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of telemetry patients.
• Observes patients, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisors or physicians of cardiac status and response to interventions.
• Responds to life‑saving situations based on nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols specific to cardiac emergencies.
• Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned telemetry patients.
• Initiates patient education plans focused on cardiac health, risk factors, and lifestyle modifications.
• Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care for telemetry patients.
• Adheres to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards.

• One year of recent experience as a Stepdown RN.
• Current valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
• Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) Certification.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

• Remain in a stationary position, move around, handle equipment (50–100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.

• Grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.

• Cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure.
• Work under close supervision occasionally, as well as independently without assistance from other personnel.
