Auto Glass Technician

Peotter’s Auto Body — Summit, NJ
· Full-time · $20–$30/hour, based on experience

Peotter’s Auto Body in Summit, NJ is looking for an experienced auto glass technician who wants to be more than just the glass person. In this role you’ll own our glass work end to end — and you’ll also be the first set of hands on vehicles coming into the body shop, handling check-in and diagnostic scans. If you like variety in your day and take pride in clean, safe installs, this job was built for you.

About us:

We’re a local, independent auto body shop serving Summit and the surrounding communities. Our customers come to us because we treat their vehicles like our own and stand behind our work. We’re a tight crew where everyone’s work is visible and everyone’s contribution matters.

About the role:

A year from now, you’ll be the person our shop counts on for every windshield, door glass, and back glass job — done right the first time, with safe drive‑away times respected on every install. You’ll also run our vehicle intake: checking cars in as they arrive for body work and performing pre‑repair diagnostic scans so the repair team starts every job with a complete picture.

What you’ll do:
  • Remove and install windshields, door glass, quarter glass, and back glass on a wide range of makes and models.
  • Perform chip and crack repairs when replacement isn’t needed.
  • Check in vehicles arriving at the body shop — document condition, photos, and customer concerns.
  • Run pre‑ and post‑repair diagnostic scans and flag trouble codes for the repair team.
  • Follow safe installation standards, including proper urethane use and safe drive‑away times.
  • Keep your work area, tools, and glass inventory organized.
What we’re looking for:

Required:
  • 3–5 years of hands‑on auto glass experience (removal, installation, and repair).
  • Ability to lift and handle windshields and large glass safely.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Comfortable using a scan tool or willingness to be trained on ours.
Nice to have:
  • AGSC certification.
  • Experience with ADAS camera/sensor calibration after windshield replacement.
  • Prior body shop or estimating experience.
