SUMMARY

The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating power industrial trucks to move, locate, stack, and count merchandise. The operator must safely and efficiently operate the vehicle and may also be required to perform Order Filler and Checker duties. Responsibilities include accurate storing, shipping, and receiving of product to meet company standards of safety, security, and productivity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Receiving/Put-Away
    • Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations.
    • Input data accurately into WMS.
    • Efficiently stack and store product in appropriate area.
    • Maintain an organized work area.
  • Order Picking
    • Pull and prepare for shipment, ensuring that the exact number and type of product is loaded and shipped.
    • Perform picking duties efficiently to meet customer service standards.
    • Prepare freight for operations accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Quality
    • Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage.
    • Report quality variances.
  • Delivery
    • Efficiently move product from staging or storage to production lines or docking areas.
    • Ensure proper documentation accompanies freight.
    • Maintain records and reports to support inventory control and security.
  • Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance
    • Maintain a clean, neat, orderly work area and assist in warehouse security.
    • Comply with all standard operating procedures, corporate and site‑specific policies, safety rules, and OSHA/MSDS standards.
    • Participate in safety meetings.
  • Equipment Operation
    • Load, unload, stack, and stage product using forklift, clamp truck, drum attachment, or other power equipment.
    • Inspect and perform minor maintenance on equipment daily.
    • Operate equipment safely and efficiently following prescribed work methods.
    • Maintain active forklift certification.
  • Maintenance
    • Assist or perform building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.
  • Other Duties
    • Change fuel tanks on forklifts as needed.
    • Participate in physical inventories and perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking as required.
    • Repair pallets, trailers, and truck bays as requested.
    • Maintain a clean, safe work environment.
    • Perform other duties as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education:

    High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience:

    Minimum six months in a logistics or distribution environment.
  • Ability to operate MHE.
  • Certification:
    Successful completion of a forklift training program.
  • Computer

    Skills:

    Basic computer skills, use of RF scanners, and familiarity with WMS functions.
  • Language

    Skills:

    (none specified).
  • Mathematical

    Skills:

    Basic to intermediate level for inventory verification and product counting.
  • Other:
    Strong attention to detail, ability to work with minimal supervision, adaptability to change, and capability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 1–2 years experience in a warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment.
  • 1–2 years forklift experience.
  • Current or prior MHE certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Tasks may require reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting up to 40 lbs. Employee must be able to stand for up to 8 hours per day and use computer and telephone equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work environment has low to moderate noise levels. Employees are rarely exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Base pay range: $19.50 per hour. Actual compensation will be based on experience, skills, education, certifications, and location. Benefits information is available through the DSV Benefits Showcase, with eligibility and coverage varying by location and division. See company policy.
