DOOR SHOP LEAD

Carry out a variety of floor support tasks, including ensuring daily production, quality, and safety goals are met; ensuring work stations are staffed for daily production needs; helping resolve production issues; championing and supporting continuous improvement initiatives; supporting one‑piece flow philosophy; and providing employee training and support. This role requires a strong desire to learn all areas of the shop, understand the production flow, develop leadership skills, and advance toward future promotional opportunities within the organization.

WAGE
: $29.00-$32.00 per hour, depending on experience.

HOURS
:
Base hours are 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday-Friday. Because this is an operations role, the workday may end later depending on production needs.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Direct daily floor duties to ensure production, quality, and safety goals are met.
  • Ensure all work stations are staffed for production needs.
  • Help resolve production issues to reduce machine downtime and maintain production flow.
  • Ensure each work cell is completing daily standardized checklists as directed.
  • Fill job roles for key missing employees due to vacations, call‑outs, or leaves of absence.
  • Provide after‑sales service if necessary.
  • Provide daily on‑floor employee coaching and training as needed.
  • Work with the Bill of Material (BOM) Analyst to ensure all BOM and substitutions are correct.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and help identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, accuracy, and productivity.
  • Learn all major shop areas, production processes, and workflow needs in order to support the team and grow into future leadership opportunities.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
EXPERIENCE, REQUIRED AND PREFERRED
  • Lead experience or a proven track record of increased lead‑type responsibilities.
  • 1+ year of continuous improvement experience preferred.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing or production experience preferred.
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills.
  • Experience with standardized work, production checklists, or employee training preferred.
  • Experience supporting production flow, staffing needs, safety, quality, and daily production goals preferred.
  • Experience resolving production issues, reducing downtime, or supporting machine and workflow troubleshooting preferred.
  • Experience working with BOMs, substitutions, or production documentation preferred.
  • Strong desire to learn all areas of the shop and grow into future promotional opportunities.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time, 8‑9 hours a day. Must be able to walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. repeatedly and occasionally up to 70 lbs.
  • Participate in team lifts of objects weighing 70 lbs.

    - 150 lbs.
  • Able to maneuver items up to 150 lbs.
  • Must be able to occasionally use a ladder for pulling/stocking materials as necessary.
  • Frequently walking and moving in a production area setting.
