Maintenance Mechanic II
The Maintenance Mechanic performs building maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment. They are responsible for SEKISUI Aerospace facilities and manufacturing equipment, making sure it operates at utmost potential, and is maintained to ensure maximum availability. Maintenance Technicians repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as pneumatic tools, HVAC equipment, production machines and equipment.
Duties include:
- Ensuring that all SEKISUI equipment and facilities are 100% compliant to standard safety practices and regulatory organizations (OSHA, ANSI, UL, NFPA), customer processing specs (BAC, RPS) qualification requirements, and aerospace industry accredited organization (nadcap, ncamp) requirements
- Acting as the front-line response for any machine issues, including troubleshooting and diagnostics, on all factory equipment including mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems. This includes responding to requests related to Lock-Out Tag-Out
- Using tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices
- Diagnosing electrical & controls issues with equipment and SCADA system
- Coordinating work activities with outside contractors and vendors as needed
- Performing preventative maintenance tasks on equipment on a defined schedule and maintaining preventative maintenance instructions
- Working with production scheduling when maintaining facilities/equipment to ensure production impact is minimized
- Providing accurate time estimates to production management on maintenance functions
- Ensuring maintenance spares inventory is maintained at minimum levels and spares are reordered as they are consumed
- Installing, relocating, facilitating and starting up equipment as required
- Working independently with minimal supervision
- Reading and understanding technical/repair manuals and vendor resources; installing new machines
- Communicating equipment repair status with direct supervisor and production department supervisors and leads
- Having a sense of urgency for repairs affecting production downtime
Qualifications include:
- Able to read, understand, and follow wiring schematics
- Experience in:
- The repair of numerical control machines like CNC machines, ply cutters, and ultrasonic inspection systems
- Compressed air systems
- Basic metal fabrication, cutting and welding
- Troubleshooting PLC controls
- An understanding of autoclaves, pressure vessels, and gas fired batch equipment
- Familiarity with the use and maintenance of various pneumatic hand tools
- Working knowledge of dust collection equipment, HVAC, walk-in freezers and hydraulic systems
- Ability to climb ladders, operate hand & power tools, drive forklift & scissor lift, utilize fall restraint harness and assemble heavy mechanisms
- 3-7 years of previous experience performing basic maintenance repairs including plumbing, electrical, and mechanical under daily supervision
- Experience with high voltage electrical systems 480V /240V, AC/DC control systems
- Previous electrical and controls diagnostics experience preferred
Education includes:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Associates degree through accredited trade school preferred, or equivalent work experience
Computer skills include:
- Basic computer & software skills preferred
- Experience with CMMS
- Experience with PLC, HMI, Ladder logic desired
