We are partnering with a well‑established aerospace and defense manufacturer to identify an experienced CNC Mill Machinist for a direct hire opportunity. Position OverviewThe CNC Mill Machinist will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC milling machines while ensuring quality, accuracy, and efficiency throughout the manufacturing process. This role is ideal for someone with strong setup experience who enjoys working in a fast‑paced precision machining environment.
Key Responsibilities- Set up and operate 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC milling machines
- Operate manual milling machines as needed
- Produce precision‑machined components while maintaining quality and efficiency standards
- Monitor machine performance and production output
- Assist with tooling and fixturing selection and preparation
- Perform in‑process inspections using precision measuring instruments
- Collaborate with programmers, tooling personnel, production scheduling, and department leadership
- Troubleshoot machining issues and suggest process improvements
- Maintain accurate setup documentation and update setup sheets as needed
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment
- Minimum 3 years of machine shop experience
- 3+ years of CNC Mill setup and machining experience
- Experience with 3-axis, 4-axis, and/or 5-axis CNC milling equipment
- Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and precision measurements
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and manufacturing documentation
- Basic CNC programming knowledge, including Mastercam, is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Excellent problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills
- Reliable attendance and strong time management skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to safely perform duties in a machine shop setting
- $30‑$40/HR - Competitive compensation based on experience, skills, and overall qualifications
