Position Summary

The Detail Specialist is responsible for supporting the final cleaning process, polishing/buffing, and minor paint corrections to finish up trucks for customer deliveries. This job is a hybrid role that will float between the cleaning group and paint group within the detail department as needed. The role focuses on meeting high quality standards, cleanliness standards, and professional paint standards that result in a customer‑ready ambulance.

Key Responsibilities Detailer
  • Perform detailed interior and exterior cleaning of completed or in process ambulances prior to delivery.
  • Wash, polish, and detail exterior surfaces, including painted panels, aluminum, stainless steel, and trim.
  • Clean and detail interiors, including cabinets, seating, floors, walls, compartments, and patient care areas.
  • Remove protective films, labels, residue, dust, and fingerprints from finished vehicles.
  • Inspect vehicles for cosmetic defects or damage and report findings to supervisors.
  • Coordinate with Production, Quality, and Sales teams to ensure vehicles are delivery-ready.
  • Safely operate detailing tools, equipment, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Maintain a clean, organized detailing area and properly store tools and materials.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to detailing processes and vehicle presentation.
Touch‑up Painter
  • Perform paint touch‑ups on completed units including corrections of minor scratches, chips, blemishes, and surface imperfections.
  • Buff, polish, and compound painted surfaces to achieve a high‑gloss, uniform finish.
  • Wet sand and feather paint as needed to blend repairs seamlessly.
  • Inspect finished units for cosmetic defects and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Coordinate with paint, detail, and the quality teams to resolve finish‑related issues.
  • Properly mask, protect, and clean surrounding surfaces during touch‑up work.
Safety & Compliance
  • Operate all material handling equipment in a safe and responsible manner in compliance with OSHA standards and company policies.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, aisles, and staging zones at all times.
  • Participate in daily safety briefings, toolbox talks, and required safety training.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, near‑mises, or incidents to the Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Follow all PPE requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, and hazardous material handling guidelines.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to safely lift 50 lbs independently and up to 100 lbs with assistance.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to perform consistent physical labor throughout a full shift.
  • 1+ years of vehicle detailing or buffing/polishing experience.
Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or specialty vehicle environment.
  • Prior experience in both detailing and paint touch up on vehicles.
Contingencies of Employment
  • Successful completion of a pre‑employment drug screen and physical examination.
  • Successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, if applicable to the position.
