Diesel Technician/Mechanic III - Entry Level
Ready to accelerate your career while helping our customers move forward? As a Technician at Penske, you'll do preventative maintenance and minor repairs on the newest and best maintained fleet of vehicles in the industry. You will help our customers keep their vehicles in shape and on the road.

No day is the same. You'll work on a variety of equipment and benefit from safety and reliability priorities. You will learn from experienced supervisors and master technicians, receive industry‑certified training, and enjoy a clean work environment with all major shop tools provided.
Main Responsibilities- Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for customers
- Use Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics
- Perform preventive maintenance repairs such as tire replacement or rotation, component lubrication and replacement, electrical system repairs, and cooling system maintenance on gas and diesel engine vehicles
- Partner with managers to learn new skills through Penske’s training and hands‑on coaching
- Work on additional projects and tasks assigned by supervisors

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred
- Basic mechanical aptitude and 1‑2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred)
- Valid driver’s license
- Problem‑solving ability and comfort using tools
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Teamwork and independence
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to comply with DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety and maintenance policies
- Regular, predictable, full attendance required
- Acceptance of DOT regulations, maintaining a current driver qualification file, and meeting drug screening and physical requirements
- Willingness to work required schedule, location, and potential travel for training
- Stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods
- Use hands routinely to grasp, reach, touch, and operate tools and controls
- Work safely at heights with ladders and elevated platforms
- Work in all weather conditions
- See and hear to navigate the work environment safely
- Regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds; push or pull truck tires exceeding 100 pounds
Base pay: $31.65 per hour.
Second shift starting after 11:00 a.m. is eligible for a $1.50 per hour shift differential.
Third shift starting after 9:00 p.m. is eligible for a $2.50 per hour shift differential.
