We are hiring a full-time (40 hours weekly), non-exempt Assistant Shift Supervisor with Public Safety Communications. The purpose of this position is to answer e911, non-emergency and text to 911 calls for service, determining the nature of the emergency and produce an appropriate response; prioritize and dispatch law enforcement, emergency medical services and fire departments.
Projected Salary Range/Pay Grade 114:$23.85 - $28.62, salary is determined based on qualifications.

- Receives all e9-1-1, emergency and non-emergency telephone calls, text to 9-1-1 via online software calls, Telecommunications Device for the Deaf (TDD) calls for law enforcement, emergency medical services, fire services, coroner, fire marshal, emergency management, animal control, and other emergency agencies.
- Provides appropriate lifesaving information and pre-arrival instructions to the callers to stabilize the situation until the arrival of emergency services. Provides basic crisis counseling support to callers to avert potential self-hazard, suicide, or hostage situations.
- Utilizes Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems, Geographic Information Systems, MARVLIS, and other technology systems to accurately record and maintain information received from callers and emergency response personnel, determine location of emergencies, identify potential hazards, prioritize and manage resources and ensure efficient handling of calls for service.
- Utilizes communications systems to maintain radio and data communications with responders to provide timely and accurate information. Ensures responders are provided with all pertinent information via radio and mobile data systems to ensure their safety. Maintains constant track of all field units to ensure their safety.
- Ensures all communications and Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) operations are in compliance with and adhere to policies, procedures, protocols, and standards and applicable local, state, and federal laws. Ensures calls for service are answered and dispatched in accordance with County, Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.
- Serves as Training Officer for the assigned shift, training new Telecommunication Specialists on new polices and/or call taking or dispatching techniques.
